Fall Rap Up

On Halloween weekend PBun thought should run a marathon
Settled for half...is that wrong?

Got to enjoy some pretty views
Even ended up with a finisher’s medal, too

First weekend in November started with a mock race swim
750 yards with an extra 25 for the win
Next she was glad to be back in the TriDot group ride
Forgot to put on the right kit - no surprise
Thankfully she was able to change on the fly
So she didn't have to mess up her ride
Remembered all the steps to get things started on time
And stayed in the rubberband even on the climbs
Snot rags might have been discussed
With TriDot branding t'would be a must!
On Sunday she finished the rest of her mock race
12.43 on a virtual bike course followed by a 5k in this case
Technology on the bike had her a smidge confused,
But she just had fun with it - what did she have to lose?
The afternoon spent time with an old friend
Looking forward to getting together again 
In November STUR attempted her first ever SUP race-
Almost a DNS but the wicked winds and waves caused a DNF in this case!!

Mid November brought a real remote race
For this, a Sprint distance in this case!
750M Long Course at the Long Bridge Pool
Then the USAT AG Nats bike course on Rouvy was pretty cool
A 5k run was done outside after the standard 10 minute T2
Had a pretty good race in the end, it is true! 

Next up, KBun headed on down to Cozumel
To give the Ironman race there a go sounds swell

She was feeling a little bit under the weather and had laryngitis
But that did not keep her from the finish line, that’s bunny Bad@$$!
After a nice current aided swim she was off on the bike course
And despite some crazy rain on the run, she finished with no remorse! 

Got to meet up with a friend from the prior year
Who she helped after his race – the story brings a tear

Thanksgiving morning brought a couple of different turkey trots
PBun out in Reston where she met up with Greg – that rocks

STUR hit up her local favorite – the Alexandria 5
It’s always good to start Thanksgiving day with a run, no jive!

Mid-December rabbits came together to celebrate PBun’s IMCoz accomplishment
It was a festive gathering and discussing plans for 2022 was heaven sent

PBut received a little surprise for being 4th in aquabike series scoring
It was a fun way to compete while training - it certainly was not boring! 

Rumor has it that the Beast was 1st aquabike overall...
PBun has her to thank for getting involved, y'all!

B2B Rap

May the current carry you down on the swim
May the wind at your back on the bike make you grin
May the run be flat and extraordinarily swift -
All the above would be an amazing gift!
You rabbits are prepared for whatever the day brings -
And securing that medal is definitely the THING!

K and P Bun headed to Wilmington N-C
They were going there to do the 70.3
Rolled into town early Thursday afternoon
Got check in taken care of and were over the moon
The Ironman Village was inside – kind of different
It was at the convention center which was pretty convenient!
Next they checked out the swim areas for the race and practice
Which involved a drive by T1 as a matter of fact

It wouldn’t be a race weekend without a quick trip to a Ross store
PBun might have walked away with a skirt a cookies – nothing more
Friday morning they attended the practice near the Blockade Runner
With an awesome talk given by the swim volunteer coordinator

Afterwards they hit their bikes for a quick shake out ride
Then back to Ironman Village for the pre-race briefing outside

That afternoon they dropped off their bikes in T1

 

Then back to T2 to drop their bags for the run

Then they were off for a bike course preview
That seemed like the smart thing to do!
Next it was time to rest up for the night
Because race day would dawn early and hopefully bright!

Before they knew it the alarm was sounding
It was now time to get this 70.3 show going
There were a lot of logistics to start the day
But they had a good plan in place
Got to the convention center parking garage, stat
Walk to the first of two shuttle buses, fact
Dropped at T1 to set up bikes for the day
Then a shuttle to the swim start was next, you don’t say?
At that point there was a bit of a wait
But they were glad to be in place in this case
Before long the race day sky started to get light
It was time to get corralled to walk to the beach, all right!
PBun was in line with a Team Z friend
It was nice to have someone to chat with then!
And as promised the current was at their backs
PBun had a 1.2 swim PR – how about that?
KBun had a fantastic PR swim as well
Attending the practice was surely swell
Both bunnies were nervous about the two bridge crossings
PBun thought the metal grates of them would be good for tires popping
Thankfully this was not the case for either one
And while the ride started out foggy soon out came the sun!
KBun mentioned that she felt the wind
But PBun does not really remember it, is that a sin?

The craziest thing happened around mile 10 on the ride
A rider ejected himself off a ramp into a ravine – no lie
He needed to be winched up by the fire department
Covered in mud, he was shaken but thankfully not hurt
The bunnies were both relieved to successfully come in to T2
And were happy to move on to the run, just a half marathon left to do

The course took them through town and part way around a lake
It was an out and back with six aid stations to partake
They seemed to all have really fun themes:
Including “Richard Simmons” sweating to the oldies it seems
PBun was ecstatic to finally cross a finish line
After three DNFs it was ABOUT time!! 

KBun was happy, too, and did a little jig
After a short recovery they departed the shindig!

Choppy Rehearsal Rap

Saturday some rabbits headed to a familiar location
We're talking Cambridge M-D but not for vacation 

A race rehearsal ride was on tap
40 miles straight with almost no breaks, natch
Finished things up with a 40 minute run
All in all they were a successful bunch
The Beast lined up for the Pleasants Landing Oly Aquabike
Another podium finish, if you like! 

STUR went down to Wrightsville Beach to Swim the Loop -
Turned into an out and back - here’s the scoop...

 

Winds, chop, and current with a small craft advisory…
That’s what made the course up for some revisory!
Against the current on the way out -
An hour to swim a mile?! Keep swimming no time to pout!
On the way back - chop made the buoys impossible to see -
Still there was a bit of a push - whee!!!
However getting to the ladder to exit was a tough job…
Some had to be rescued as all they could do was bob.
Despite all the pre-race talk and worry -
Apparently the conditions made the jelly fish scurry...

Had an awesome cheer crew along for the expedition
Another type of race in their future is their mission
Sunday PBun raced the virtual A-10
Same course a last year seemed like a good plan
She felt a bit sluggish and tired
But knocking out the miles is what she desired

Had a couple of obstacles to navigate
Anyone need a couch? For goodness sake!

In the afternoon she helped with Fall clean up at EPSC
Looks kind of sad now with all of the floating leaves! 

ATL SUP Rap

PBun had a pre Ironman nightmare dream
Her rear tire was split, right on the seam!
The sealant was oozing all over the place
Looks like her day was over before she'd even started her race
MRab did a double at Waterman's in Rock Hall
One of the last race weekends of the season, y'all
Apparently MRab did not notice that wetsuit leg on the bike mount-
I guess he really wanted every second to count!
PBun visited Luna and PGoodz for the weekend
They had a couple of fun things planned
Duck Donuts seemed like a good idea to start Saturday
Followed by a walk along the Doll's Head Trail, which was creepy!

Sunday started with breakfast at Waffle House, their tradition 

Then watched the Football Team at the Falcons get a win!

STUR took a break from swimming to stand on top of a board -
When a friend's puppy jumped on her SUP her heart soared!

Foggy Algae Rap

Saturday morning the Beast and PBun
Headed to the Giant Acorn for some Oly aquabike fun

There was a bit of a delay to the start
Some fog rolled in and did not want to depart

The water was fabulous at almost 78 degrees
The air temp was perfect for the bike, if you please
There was a pothole around mile 5 or so
But thankfully it was well marked, don't you know

 PBun, caught on the race day video!

The Beast kept her podium tradition alive
Staying at the top of the points standing is her jive! 

PBun was perfectly in the middle of the pack
And this time got her post race pizza - fact!
Sunday morning STUR gathered up PBun
And headed to Reston's Lake Audubon

Both STUR and PBun swam wetsuit free -
The water was 71.2 with a light algae!!

They lined up for the one mile swim together
Purple caps with a fish couldn't be better
They both agreed that it was super easy to sight
And laughed at the Minion buoy, alright?
For their effort did they both score a medal? Yes sir!
Bronze for PBun and Silver for STUR!
For the two mile, STUR had another purple cap
This one had a picture of a frog - how about that!
On STUR's third swim loop of four she spotted a bunny -
There was PBun running on the trail - kind of funny!
PBun arrived at the two mile finish just in time
To see STUR exit the water covered in lake slime!

Guess what? STUR scored another medal - this one in bronze
She is totally bad @$$ - is that wrong?

 

Meanwhile, the Beast was back at the Giant Acorn thing
And she (and Morgan both) earned some Sprint aquabike bling!
