Rabbit-isms!

There's always room for another race!
That's a horrible idea... What time?!

Drag Hill Rap

When STUR arrived at Chinquapin it was a little crowded this Saturday morn-
She was motivated so her swim suit and goggles she did adorn.
STUR got in and got it done!

Swimming solo is not always the best-
She doesn’t always work as hard she must confess!
Luckily at the CrossFit box there was plenty of motivation to be had -
It was a partner WOD and she was glad!
Thank goodness this was a partner WOD!

Meanwhile, PBun hopping on her trainer
Just an hour spin – that was a no brainer!
Cool Breeze and G-Wham checking out the grounds at Greenspring!

Next up was a local garden show with Cool Breeze
Coffee first – if you please!
The historic house at Greenspring!

After that it seemed like never ending errands
Then a meeting at her pool – she got it done
Also planted some butterfly weed
She is hoping to attached monarch, you see.
Butterfly weed and swamd milkweed!

KBun got some swimming in
She is thinking about joining masters, for the win!
Mini Rabbit Reunion!

Saturday night some rabbits met at an awesome Mexican joint-
To get together and catch up was the point!
It was a nice get together here!

There might have been a couple of large drinks
But they left alcohol on the table…you think?
STUR and the sangria!

These drinks were huge!

Sunday morning STUR drove over to the Hill -
For her Sunday fitness the Capitol Hill Classic 10k would fit the bill.
STUR is ready to run in the hot sun!

A very popular race and it was once again hot -
Did she walk some? Yes but not a lot!

Grabbed a Gatorade and a free Propel -
Acclimating to some heat is really swell!

PBun and the Goodmanator felt the need for speed…
Like dragsters going over 300 mph, if you please!
That sun was bright and hot beating down on the track!

Headed down to Virginia Motorsports Park in North Dinwiddie
For the NHRA Mello Yello Virginia Nationals by golly!
Oh, it's just the pit crew putting the body back on the car!

Went on the Mello Yello walking tour and got to go on the drag strip track
Sat in a Funny Car simulator and received samples of the drink how about that?
The Funny Car simulator was fun and a tight fit!

Mello Yellow is good!

The track temp was 116 degrees at 11:17 am
At 2:00 it was 140 degrees - oh man!
PBun is excited to walk out on the track!

It was exciting because John Force entered the day as qualifier number one
Out of all 16 drivers in the Funny Car division
Introducing the Number 1 Funny Car Qualifier

In between rounds Top Fuel driver Brittany Force was just chilling out
But then came over to say hello to her fans that were hanging about
Brittany hanging out with her fans and her Top Fuel Dragster!

And in round one their favorite team John Force Racing went 4 for 4
But sadly in round two it was goose eggs across the board!
John Force Racing - it's like they have a mini city!

A cool thing to note about the NHRA?
Their technical school sponsor is where the Goodmanator went – no way!
It's the 'Christmas Tree'!

On Sunday CBun went on a hike with HRab…
And Hazel Falls was apparently pretty fab!
It was a great day for a hike!

Two Halfs and a Hundred Rap

On Saturday STUR looked at the work out and decide to go to CrossFit
Burpees and running always a perfect fit!
First was 2 miles run in a weighted vest-
100 burpees and pull-ups filled up the rest!
The lazy river looks fab!

Down in PCB, KBun had one of the toughest swims of her life -
But she made it through VERY well despite the strife!
KBun is on the run!

Through the day the temperature did climb-
KBun still finished in an excellent time!
KBun is in paradise!
KBun's finisher medal even looks like paradise!

PBun headed to the Kinetic Multisports Festival
Would the rain hold off? She would stay hopeful!
Parked next to a gal with a bike like Trixie…
But without the pink handlebar tape you see!
It was nice to hang out with Margie and Morgan pre-race
And Leslie was there Sherpa-ing in this case!
Before the warm up swim they saw a little frog!
Maybe he was searching for a hollow log?
PBun thought the swim was almost like glass
Mostly flat water and very little swimmer contact
In T1 a rack mate hung her wetsuit over the rail
Which was dripping on PBun's run stuff without fail
She made it out on the bike just fine
No issues headed uphill from T1, divine!
She was happy to have driven the course the week before
She was a little familiar with and knew the score
The volunteers were all really friendly
Especially the dudes where she took a pit stop to pee
Tried to monitor her heart rate and power
Needs a better system going forward
The skies were mostly overcast which made it pretty pleasant
Just a little sun coming out towards the end
Finally rolled into T2
Time to done ears and running shoes
The announcer was calling out to PBun
She said "I think you're going the wrong way, hon."
Then announced "she's going to the port a potty"
It was quite comical actually!
On the run course, the bunny ears got quite a bit of love and cheers
It was the first time they'd been at the Kinetic race it appears
Finally got to run through the finisher chute
Received a medal but no pizza, that’s the scoop
PBun was pretty pleased with her effort overall
Especially with her run split, y'all
Maddie is rockin PBun's finisher medal!

The mission? To be laser focused!
She did her best - it was really no fuss!

The Beast, headed to set up her transition area!

The Beast was there to do the Oly aquabike
She knocked it out of the park all right
The Beast earned 2nd place in her race without a doubt
But had to leave before the awards were handed out
PBun slept pretty hard on Saturday night
But woke up before the alarm, what a fright
Took a nap before arising for good
To meet some rabbits to swim what she could
Paddles, fins, and goggles at the ready!
Maddie was there to offer moral support!

Made it through 25 100s, more than half with fins
But looks forward to the next time she can do it again!
The Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex is a GREAT place to swim!

Initially STUR had some designs on a 100 100’s PR-
But as you may realize, that’s a long way to swim - very far!
STUR getting her 100 100s done!

STUR lost some 100s mojo around number seventy-six.
So she decided to put more strokes into the mix.
CBun getting her 100 100s done!

It was great having CBun along for the long haul
They both eventually finished them ALL

The pair couldn’t wait to take a turn on the slide-
Believe it or not it’s a fast little ride!
STUR is flying!

Here comes CBun!

Afterwards they decided to break with tradition -
Instead of Chipotle - Five Guys was their mission!

Back at home PBun decided to do some Mother's Day relaxing
Chilling in her new zero gravity chair was just the thing!
PBun loves her new anti-gravity chair!
Thanks also go out to PGoodz and the Goodmanator!

Ridge Rockin Rainy Rap

This weekend JRab and STUR went on a bit of an adventure-
They always have fun truck camping - that’s for sure!
Headed up to the Hudson Valley area for Rock the Ridge ultra race -
The Jelly Stone campground was to be their sleeping place.
Look at these happy campers!!

After setting up camp it was nearly time for dinner.
CBun and HRab picked them up- winner!
Campground is pretty locked down if you must know-
A strange dance with a golf cart they did undergo.
CBun and HRab eventually ditched their “escort” cart -
JRab and STUR commandeered said cart to get to their friends - funny and smart!
Ultimately JRab rented one of these vehicles-
Got him all around the campground-he was sold!
Anyway they had a nice dinner at a place called the Station-
Met up with STUR’s relay partner Becca- feeling like a vacation!
Once back at the campground- time to snooze-
Unfortunately some of their neighbors were loud and hitting the booze!
As a result next morning at 4am was very hard to arise-
The party-goers were now fast asleep - no surprise!
STUR took the golf cart shuttle to the top of the campground-
That’s where her HRab and CBun ride could be found!
HRab dropped them off right at the race start-
As a Sherpa - HRab really did his part!
CBun and STUR are ready to get this party started!

They met relay team member Becca at the testimonial gate-
A cool-ish and very foggy morning was their fate.
This structure is so cool!

CBun and STUR trotted off right at 6 o clock-
Initially hard to separate from the flock.
It is foggy!

The first 10 KEH certainly felt like a uphill slog-
Up and up deeper and deeper into the fog!
Still a little foggy!

Besides the fog another common theme was mud-
STUR’s new shoes were trashed- oh crud!
She hit the first big aid station at 10’miles flowing along-
CBun was just leaving there and looking strong!
STUR was happy soon to be halfway there-
Must be at the top of the mountain by now - don’t swear!
Needed some sugar so grabbed her bag of candy-
Shoved a handful in her mouth glad it was handy!
But wait something didn’t taste right-
Besides M&M’s she had chewed a couple of Advil’s - that was a fright!
Next thing she knew there was the 20 mile mark-
Ran into HRab on his hike and it gave her a spark.
Trail has flattened out but next thing she knew - wham!
A bumble bee hit her in the forehead and stung her- aww damn!
It swelled up pretty big but she was still on the move-
One mile ‘til the aid station- stay in the groove!
Becca is waiting and ready to go!
Switched up the timing strap -whoa!
Becca told her CBun was just ahead-
And still looking good she said!
STUR found the shuttle back to the gate-
Getting an Uber back to the campground was her fate!
I’m sure she looked quite the site-
A huge bump on her head and a blue tinged mouth- alright!
Time for sort of a shower and lunch cooked by JRab:
Hot dogs and tater tots was totally fab!
Small nap occurred in the tent-
A breeze and a babbling brook was heaven sent!
JRab and STUR were now ready to get back to the race finish line -
Couldn’t find an Uber guess that was a sign
That they would need to call a cab to their service-
Becca was soon to finish-he better drive with purpose!!
Got there just in time to spare-
Here comes Becca in the last little bit I declare!
STUR had a bit of an ulterior motive she will admit-
She had to collect that medal- she won’t quit!
Here comes Becca!

Team Carol and Becca were really pleased that NO headlamp was needed-
Finished well before sunset and of course nobody cheated!!
Team Carol and Becca did it!

Time to kick back and enjoy a local beer or two-
As they waited the excitement at the finish line grew and grew!
Just 10 miles to go!

CBun texted to say less than 2 miles to go-
Time for the finish line show!
Here she comes in her neon yellow gear-
And a 20 min PR in the daylight-give a cheer!!!!
Rabbits reunited!

On Saturday a group went for a ride
It was K and P Buns with Jeff - no surprise
They left before the crack to get to Cambridge
No trouble getting across the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge
The plan was to ride on the course for Ironman Maryland
The loop section is 45 miles, understand?
They stopped for breakfast along the way
KBun had Pamcakes to fuel her day!
Yummy!

Everyone did their own workout…
And regrouped at mile 32, without a doubt
But this was just before they started out

The Buns both saw a bald eagle in the Blackwater Refuge take flight
They must admit it was quite a sight!
And there were also snakes and turtles out on the road
Even a little caterpillar headed back to his abode!
After the loop KBun went out for another 15
While Jeff and PBun did their brick runs you see
PBun had the best brick of her life
Where did that sub-10 pace come from? Outta sight!
When KBun finished she went out for her brick run
She had 4 miles to do and got it done
PBun and Jeff hit up the Goose Creek convenience store
Where they got Cokes plus chocolate milk galore!
After KBun was done Chipotle was their recovery food of choice
The weather was good so they sat outside which was nice
Traffic was a breeze getting back home
Ready for the Sunday long run truth be told
Sunday morning PBun and Jeff met in the rain
Let's drive to Lake Anna - that's not insane!
The plan was to run on the Kinetic Half course
Then drive the bike route - it’s always good to reinforce!
Arrived at the park to find a race setup was underway
Seems it was the PeasantMan Tri, you don't say?
It was pretty rainy out there!

They headed out to do their own thing
PBun ran one loop plus some and it was raining
But running in the rain really can be nice!

Jeff may have missed the Cabin Loop
But got in a good run, that's the scoop!
Speaking of the Cabin Loop, PBun saw a funny sight
The road was lined with neon turtles - they sure were bright!
PBun did not have trouble going slow!

She did not obey the road sign that said Do Not Enter -
It's OK - she was following the course directions!
Enter, you will not.
Oh wait, May the Fourth was yesterday...

Once done, they changed into some dry and warm clothes
Off they went to check out the roads!
This year the course is a double loop on a stick
Different from the times they had each done it
For Jeff it was one big loop once he got out of the park in 2015
For PBun it was a regular double lollipop back in 2011 it seems!
Meanwhile MRab was on an Aquabike adventure!
The Green Hornet is locked and loaded!

The ITU Multisport World Championship race in Pontevedra!
He did it!

He conquered the swim and three hilly loops on the bike
Victory!

Now he is with his trusty steed sightseeing – what a delight!
The Green Hornet - and MRab - got to see lots of cool sights

What a great adventure!
