Rabbit-isms!

There's always room for another race!
That's a horrible idea... What time?!

Ridge Rockin Rainy Rap

This weekend JRab and STUR went on a bit of an adventure-
They always have fun truck camping - that’s for sure!
Headed up to the Hudson Valley area for Rock the Ridge ultra race -
The Jelly Stone campground was to be their sleeping place.
Look at these happy campers!!

After setting up camp it was nearly time for dinner.
CBun and HRab picked them up- winner!
Campground is pretty locked down if you must know-
A strange dance with a golf cart they did undergo.
CBun and HRab eventually ditched their “escort” cart -
JRab and STUR commandeered said cart to get to their friends - funny and smart!
Ultimately JRab rented one of these vehicles-
Got him all around the campground-he was sold!
Anyway they had a nice dinner at a place called the Station-
Met up with STUR’s relay partner Becca- feeling like a vacation!
Once back at the campground- time to snooze-
Unfortunately some of their neighbors were loud and hitting the booze!
As a result next morning at 4am was very hard to arise-
The party-goers were now fast asleep - no surprise!
STUR took the golf cart shuttle to the top of the campground-
That’s where her HRab and CBun ride could be found!
HRab dropped them off right at the race start-
As a Sherpa - HRab really did his part!
CBun and STUR are ready to get this party started!

They met relay team member Becca at the testimonial gate-
A cool-ish and very foggy morning was their fate.
This structure is so cool!

CBun and STUR trotted off right at 6 o clock-
Initially hard to separate from the flock.
It is foggy!

The first 10 KEH certainly felt like a uphill slog-
Up and up deeper and deeper into the fog!
Still a little foggy!

Besides the fog another common theme was mud-
STUR’s new shoes were trashed- oh crud!
She hit the first big aid station at 10’miles flowing along-
CBun was just leaving there and looking strong!
STUR was happy soon to be halfway there-
Must be at the top of the mountain by now - don’t swear!
Needed some sugar so grabbed her bag of candy-
Shoved a handful in her mouth glad it was handy!
But wait something didn’t taste right-
Besides M&M’s she had chewed a couple of Advil’s - that was a fright!
Next thing she knew there was the 20 mile mark-
Ran into HRab on his hike and it gave her a spark.
Trail has flattened out but next thing she knew - wham!
A bumble bee hit her in the forehead and stung her- aww damn!
It swelled up pretty big but she was still on the move-
One mile ‘til the aid station- stay in the groove!
Becca is waiting and ready to go!
Switched up the timing strap -whoa!
Becca told her CBun was just ahead-
And still looking good she said!
STUR found the shuttle back to the gate-
Getting an Uber back to the campground was her fate!
I’m sure she looked quite the site-
A huge bump on her head and a blue tinged mouth- alright!
Time for sort of a shower and lunch cooked by JRab:
Hot dogs and tater tots was totally fab!
Small nap occurred in the tent-
A breeze and a babbling brook was heaven sent!
JRab and STUR were now ready to get back to the race finish line -
Couldn’t find an Uber guess that was a sign
That they would need to call a cab to their service-
Becca was soon to finish-he better drive with purpose!!
Got there just in time to spare-
Here comes Becca in the last little bit I declare!
STUR had a bit of an ulterior motive she will admit-
She had to collect that medal- she won’t quit!
Here comes Becca!

Team Carol and Becca were really pleased that NO headlamp was needed-
Finished well before sunset and of course nobody cheated!!
Team Carol and Becca did it!

Time to kick back and enjoy a local beer or two-
As they waited the excitement at the finish line grew and grew!
Just 10 miles to go!

CBun texted to say less than 2 miles to go-
Time for the finish line show!
Here she comes in her neon yellow gear-
And a 20 min PR in the daylight-give a cheer!!!!
Rabbits reunited!

On Saturday a group went for a ride
It was K and P Buns with Jeff - no surprise
They left before the crack to get to Cambridge
No trouble getting across the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge
The plan was to ride on the course for Ironman Maryland
The loop section is 45 miles, understand?
They stopped for breakfast along the way
KBun had Pamcakes to fuel her day!
Yummy!

Everyone did their own workout…
And regrouped at mile 32, without a doubt
But this was just before they started out

The Buns both saw a bald eagle in the Blackwater Refuge take flight
They must admit it was quite a sight!
And there were also snakes and turtles out on the road
Even a little caterpillar headed back to his abode!
After the loop KBun went out for another 15
While Jeff and PBun did their brick runs you see
PBun had the best brick of her life
Where did that sub-10 pace come from? Outta sight!
When KBun finished she went out for her brick run
She had 4 miles to do and got it done
PBun and Jeff hit up the Goose Creek convenience store
Where they got Cokes plus chocolate milk galore!
After KBun was done Chipotle was their recovery food of choice
The weather was good so they sat outside which was nice
Traffic was a breeze getting back home
Ready for the Sunday long run truth be told
Sunday morning PBun and Jeff met in the rain
Let's drive to Lake Anna - that's not insane!
The plan was to run on the Kinetic Half course
Then drive the bike route - it’s always good to reinforce!
Arrived at the park to find a race setup was underway
Seems it was the PeasantMan Tri, you don't say?
It was pretty rainy out there!

They headed out to do their own thing
PBun ran one loop plus some and it was raining
But running in the rain really can be nice!

Jeff may have missed the Cabin Loop
But got in a good run, that's the scoop!
Speaking of the Cabin Loop, PBun saw a funny sight
The road was lined with neon turtles - they sure were bright!
PBun did not have trouble going slow!

She did not obey the road sign that said Do Not Enter -
It's OK - she was following the course directions!
Enter, you will not.
Oh wait, May the Fourth was yesterday...

Once done, they changed into some dry and warm clothes
Off they went to check out the roads!
This year the course is a double loop on a stick
Different from the times they had each done it
For Jeff it was one big loop once he got out of the park in 2015
For PBun it was a regular double lollipop back in 2011 it seems!
Meanwhile MRab was on an Aquabike adventure!
The Green Hornet is locked and loaded!

The ITU Multisport World Championship race in Pontevedra!
He did it!

He conquered the swim and three hilly loops on the bike
Victory!

Now he is with his trusty steed sightseeing – what a delight!
The Green Hornet - and MRab - got to see lots of cool sights

What a great adventure!
