Rabbit-isms!

There's always room for another race!
That's a horrible idea... What time?!

Reston Tri and Cherpa Rap

For STUR her Saturday run didn't start too early-
Since it wouldn't be too humid -surely!
Well humid it was and just a bit rainy...
Didn't bother her or the Beast - they aren't dainty!
Ran first toward the bridge and into Old Town -
That's where these selfie takers could be found!
STUR and The Beast!
Had some challenges trying to dodge some people on bikes...Not following the rules of the trail- yikes!
Back at the cars the Beast said goodbye;
STUR had another hour to run - she didn't ask why.
This time toward George Washington's house -
Ended up with 10.45 miles or thereabouts!
Woke up early on Sunday and she knew it was time-
To watch her friend STEB really shine!
For STEB's A race the Reston Triathlon was going on today-
RBud came early to help cherpa- no way!?
Headed out in the dark to South Lakes High School...
Helped STEB find her T2 place and that was cool!
Got STEB in her wetsuit then she and RBud headed over to the grass;
Saw STEB transition to the bike - after a swim that was kick @$$!
STEB starting the bike...

Met a family of seven cheering for their dad -
Were they excited when they saw him on the bike? Just a tad...
Saw STEB whizzing by after loop one -
Walked back to the school and found a place in the sun!
Here comes STEB ready for T2 -
It seemed to them that she really flew!
STEB finishing the bike!

Next stop they found a place in the football stands -
It was fun to give all the finishers a clap of the hands!
One of the finishers had completed THIRTY Reston Tris -
Everyone was giving him a high five!
Look at this - bunny ears coming up the hill?
Coming onto the track will certainly be a thrill!
STEB crossed the finish line looking particularly strong -
STEB  to the finish!

They'd see her soon with a finisher's hat it wouldn't be long!
Fun times to be a cherpa on a perfect weather day -
For STEB's A race, STUR gives her an "A!"

Saturday morning STEB got to sleep in
That's a good thing because later that night the Z's were pretty thin!
After a leisurely morning with a cup of coffee
As she began her pre-race brick - it was rainy!
Finished that up before the hard stuff fell
Then scooted off to packet pick up. The swag was swell!
Reston Tri swag Rocks!

Back at home for the Auburn game
They won but it was stressful and a bit insane!
Spent most of the day off her feet
But as noted above that night she couldn't sleep!
After about four hours, got up before the crack
Ready for her cherpas - STUR and RBud - their enthusiasm didn't lack!
Riley was super excited to see those gals
But didn't bring her with us she stayed with her kitty pals!
Arrived at T2 first to drop the car and run stuff...
Good spot in transition - and then they were off!
About a 1.5 mile walk to T1 and the start.
Got body marked - age on the legs twice? Why not!
Racked the bike and sorted the gear out
Goggles, cap, and wetsuit are needed first, no doubt
Then ran into some Team Z friends
Said goodbyes, a group selfie with Bobby, then chatted with Jen!
The National Anthem was actually pretty special -
Pavel Pekarsky - on electric violin - he plays with the NSO!
Remembered to count the rows (it was 6) where Trixie was racked
So after the swim she didn't run around all whacked!
STEB started the swim with wave number five
And right after the start she got kicked in the eye!
Got into a good groove after the first turn or so.
Felt like she swam straight and sighted well, don't you know?
Finally she swam around the big drain
Headed back to the slippery boat ramp - but it wasn't a pain
She had a bit of trouble in T1
Couldn't get the wetsuit off one foot - what a pill, it wasn't fun!
Finally grabbed Trixie and they got going
Saw the cherpas at the bike start and they were cheering!
The course is not quite three full loops
STEB had done two a few weekends before; she knew the scoop!
Got warmed up after a few miles
Enjoyed the ride and seeing her friends made her smile
Finally time to turn in to T2...
There she had a hard time spotting her run shoes!
She made it out in pretty good time...
And running with bunny ears isn't a crime!
The run was a tough little two leg out and back
The bunny love by supporters and athletes was not slack!
Finally made to the final hill near the finish line -
Wanted to walk again but bunny cheers were divine!
She ran and walked till she made it onto the track
Then actually picked up speed - no time to be laid back!
Saw the cherpas as she was crossing the line
And the post-race pizza tasted mighty fine!
There was also a pretty fun post race treat:
Bunny Snacks - perfect for a rabbit! How neat!
Annie's Bunny Treats are AUsome!

The Reston Triathlon has been around for 32 years!!
The organizers do a great job and deserve lots of cheers!
Thanks, STUR and RBud!
Meanwhile, CBun went on a spectacular long run...
She is ready for the C&O Canal Towpathpalooza - it'll be fun!
WuDoc was out there, on a long ride...
She takes this Ironman prep workouts in stride!
